House Cleaning

I've decided to start spring cleaning early. With the start of a new year doesn't that seem appropriate? Julie has been such a big help. We started with the living room. Now the living room wasn't real dirty to begin with but there are several things I wanted to do. Firstly, I made the drapes last year but didn't get them to hang just right. They kinda flared out at the bottom. So I did what the sewing book said to do and pleated them using sandwich paper I got from Fry's delicatessen area. That paper works great for quilting designs and anything that needs tracing.
I got a couple of inchs high amount for $2.00. Its quite large also.
We also washed the inside of the windows. The cleaning lady wants to charge $100.00 to do the inside and outside windows. Wow, I know she needs income but right now I do to. I'll do it myself. We cleaned the carpet and dusted everything real good. Julie even cleaned out the curio. It was pretty dusty.
Next we'll tackle the kitchen.

Saying for the Day

Shoot for the moon. If you miss, you'll still land among the stars.

Classes I'm Taking

In my Jenny Haskins class, we embroidered a fancy pillow. I think mine turned out so nice. It looks so delicate. It will go in the living room and hopefully the dogs won't lay on it. I am enjoying these classes and signed up for another Jenny Haskins class where we will be making a table runner. Plus, I'm taking some sewing and embroidery classes at Sallys.
I've started a 12-week course of US Research at the Mesa Regional Family History Center by the temple. I've had two classes so far. They are every Tuesday afternoon.
I'm doing some online Block of the Months quilts. They are small. One is Noah's Arh and the other is Red Delicious. I will show them as I finish a block each month. I'm keeping myself busy. I feel so good.
Doctor Visit
I saw the doctor today and he said I'll take a blood test in three months to see how high the globinthyroid level is to determine what the next step is for my thyroid cancer. If the level is not one or two, I'll be going through the same horrible treatment I went through before. I'll be doing this until the levels get low.

Red Delicious Block of the Month

I decided to do the Red Delicious Block of the Month. You can see a link to it on my side bar. I'm just getting caught up so have the first two block partly done. I decided to use only fabrics in my stash. I have some reds collected from several other quilts I made and red fabric I have gotten here and there. I hope I have enough. I've fused the design on a background because they looked so intricate to do needle turn. So I haven't decided how to sew the design to the background - either zig zag with monofillamont thread or just use a plain stitch close to the edges of the designs. Give me your ideas. I know a lot can be done to embellished each design. But I think I'll wait until a few more designs come out to decide on the embellishment.

Our Little Maggie Lou

Maggie had her surgery on December 31. She had hurt herself on Dad's bed by catching her foot between the mattress and the foot board. She was anxiously waiting for her special treat. Thank goodness her leg was not broken but she ended up with a torn cruciate ligament. Julie felt so badly for her little dog that she got sick when the accident happened. She couldn't even go to take Maggie for her surgery. She just stayed home and cried. Maggie is doing much better today. The sedation is wearing off. But you can really tell she doesn't feel good. It will take two months for her to get back to normal. She loves to jump. So right now she is restricted and under close watch. I feel so sorry for her.
